Jeunesse en Reconstruction du Monde en Destruction (JRMD) “Youth in Reconstruction of a World in Destruction” is a ministry to re-build the infrastructure of the war-torn country of Burundi. After a terrible period of killing and destroying homes in October, 1993, Prosper Ndabishiriye gathered a team of 53 young volunteers from both sides of the conflict and set about building homes for displaced people. Since that time, the JRMD teams have built over 2,000 homes and organized community projects to establish peace and reconciliation. One recently completed project is the Carama Free Methodist Church, a beautiful brick sanctuary in the middle of a resettlement village. Their current main project is completion of the Iwacu Kazoza school in Cibitoke Province, Burundi. The school is providing elementary and secondary education to 502 children, many of whom are orphans. Under construction is an orphanage which will house 160 children.
Prosper Ndabishuriye is coordinator of JRMD. He is the former director of Campus Crusade For Christ in Burundi and Secretary General of the Evangelical Church of Central Africa. His mission is to show the love of Christ in action by promoting reconciliation and meeting the needs of people affected by ethnic conflict
