Steve Doerr, Wycliffe Program Manager

Steve served as a missionary to Africa from 1981 to 2004. During that time, he lived in the countries of Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Republic of South Africa, and traveled extensively throughout the continent. Steve fulfilled numerous assignments during his stay in Africa: Church planter, District Superintendent, Field Director, Chairman of the board of the Theological College of Central Africa, Regional Church Development Coordinator, Regional Literature Coordinator, and Regional Leadership Development Coordinator. He also had the opportunity to be involved in opening the work of the Church of the Nazarene in the countries of Angola and Sao Tome & Principe.

Steve returned to the United States in 2004 to work at the Nazarene Global Ministries Center in Kansas City, Missouri. His responsibilities included being the Director of World Mission Literature and the International Coordinator of Leadership Development. Even though Steve’s role widened to include other world areas, his heart remained in Africa. Because of his passion and love for Africa, he readily accepted the invitation to work for Heart of Africa, where he served as Director of Development from 2006-2008.

Steve holds a Master of Divinity from the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, and an MBA from the University of the Free State in the Republic of South Africa. Steve and his wife, Joanie, have a son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Joanna, and a daughter, Christina.
